Along the Caribbean coast line of Quintana Roo, on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico is a small stretch of resorts which make up the Mayan Riviera formally known as the Riviera Maya. Here you will find many world renowned resorts that cater to tourists from all over the world.
Tourists visit these resorts year after year for the warm weather, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing white sand beaches, and to tour ancient archeological Mayan sites. Cruises are also very popular in this area as cruise ships arrive at port and have excursions to the resorts and Mayan ruins in the area.
While in the Mayan Rivera visits to nearby ruins such as Tulum, Uxmal and Chichen Itza are an exciting way to experience the ancient Mayan Culture. Many travel agencies and booking companies will add these tours or excursions to your vacation or resort packages upon request.
Climate in this area is very warm and humid. Temperatures range from 85 to 95F with rainy season starting in May and lasting through November. Average coastal water temperatures range from very warm 78 to 84F during the summer months.
